THE DEMPSTER TO DAWSON CITY

EAGLE PLAINS
FIREWEED

MOST FEARED WORDS EXCEPT MAYBE COMMITMENT

THE DAY BEGAN BEAUTIFULLY WITH CLEAR AND COOL SKIES. MY RIDE TO EAGLE PLAINS WAS FAST AND EASY WITH COOL BUT NOT COLD WEATHER AND A DRY ROAD.

I HAD A NICE LUNCH AGAIN AT EAGLE PLAINS THEN LEFT FOR THE  RIDE OUT. I GOT 100 MILES OUT AND IT BEGAN TO RAIN A CONTINUOS  AND STEADY LIGHT AND AT TIMES MODERATE RAIN WITH A COLD WIND, ESPECIALLY OVER THE MOUNTAIN PASSES. IT CONTINUED TO RAIN FOR THE NEXT 130 MILES BUT THE ROAD WAS STABLE AND I HAD GOOD TRACTION DUE TO THE STONEY SURFACE.

AGAIN I COVERED BOTH LEGS IN 5 HOURS EACH AND USED ONLY TANK FUEL. I HAVE BEEN PAYING NEARLY $ 7 PER GALLON FOR FUEL ON THE REMOTE ROADS.

I DID SEE 10 RIDERS GOING NORTH, ONE OF THEM, A FULL DRESS HARLEY.

ALL IN ALL A GREAT RIDING DAY. I AM SURE HAPPY, I PUT ON THOPSE DIRT TIRES. I GATHERED SO MUCH MUD, OF DIRT AND CALCIUM CHLORIDE, THAT IT BLOCKED MY RADIATOR AND OVERHEATED,  I HAD TO CLEAN IT TWICE.

I DID NOT DO ANY FISHING BUT WILL START TOMORROW IN MAYO AND KENO YUKON.

THERE IS NOTHING MORE CHALLENGING  AND DANGEROUS THAN RIDING BEHIND A GRADER. JUST ASK BILL.

THE RAIN HAS CAUGHT UP WITH ME AGAIN, AS IT HAS NOW BEGAN TO RAIN IN EARNEST HERE IN DAWSON CITY TONIGHT.
